The suspicious device found on the Treasure Island off-ramp of the Bay Bridge this afternoon has been moved, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesman. The device was found on one of the railings of the off-ramp, CHP Officer Mike Ferguson said. The exact nature of the device or object remains unclear, and Ferguson said he does not yet know whether it was found to be harmless.
Traffic across the Bay Bridge slowed to a crawl, then stopped altogether, before reopening this afternoon while police investigated a suspicious device found on the eastbound Treasure Island off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The San Francisco Police Department's Bomb Squad was reported to be on the scene examining the device.
Bridge access was limited to allow investigators to get to the area where the device was found on the eastbound Treasure Island off-ramp, CHP spokeswoman Sgt. Diana McDermott said.

while police investigated a suspicious device
by tomorrow they will have denied any POSSIBLE terrorism Links...and announced that it was simply an abandoned Black Backpack....NO PRESSURE COOKERS in sight.
no nothin to see here folks
The worst traffic jam I was in was in southern California. It started in 1000 Palms and was the back up from Los Angeles. I always get annoyed at traffic jams and back ups but LOS ANGELES, wow, the wonderworld of cars. Their public transit department doesn't really exist, so they have cars. Wow.
I think the terrorists have won.
All they need to do is drive around dropping “suspicious devices” like boxes with wires in it, and unclaimed luggage, all around our major cities. Fools that our present leaders are, they will chase down every one until they bankrupt us.
In San Francisco the only “device” that could cause so much terror would be if someone left a Bible on the ground.
To put this in context, our office in downtown S.F. was warned Thursday to expect demonstrations by “unnamed groups” on Friday afternoon. This usually means Occutards or other left-wing loonies.
As a result I’m sure LE was on high alert for anything suspicious.
