Why wait? You can plant vining plants and let them climb the cattle panels.

Okay, I did it..Now what vining plants like 100 degree weather?

Actually, since this heat wave is supposed to last another week, I figure I ccan throw designer's gauze over it to shade my plants if they start getting stressed..like in a few hours..

My Malabar Spinach is doing fine. It's in the hoophouse under a 30% shadecloth cover and watered regularly.
I also have lettuce sprouting in the greenhouse hydroponics. They'll be moved outside once they get a bit bigger and the weather cools.

With this weather, mulching is important to keep the root balls cool and moist.

Good question. Kiwi, Jasmine, Trumpet vine.....
Plant your seeds. Many need the heat to start sprouting.

Try some yardlong beans:

Mine make all summer long. They sull a bit if the temps are consistently over 105 but as long as you water them they’re real troopers. Pick them very small (pencil lead size if possible or slightly larger) and stir fry with peppers, zucchini, chicken/etc. Yummy.
