It is amazing. Race aside, everyone panders to single parents. We can:

• Talk about what heroes they are.
• Emphasize what a struggle it is emotionally to be the only parent.
• Sympathize with how stressful it is financially.
• Appreciate how difficult it is logistically with only one driver, etc.

We can talk about how difficult it is for parents and children to live in that environment. But somehow it's terribly wrong to draw the obvious conclusion: That we should discourage people from choosing that lifestyle. I understand death and divorce may force people into it. But somehow it's taboo to stand up and say: "If it's so challenging, difficult and draining, we should tell young people to avoid it."
