John McClane, a loner with a progressively bloodied tank top, set the tone for regular-guy action heroes. For that, we salute him

Malkovich.
“We gotta get rid of her. I know a place down the road. Its perfect, lots of alligators.”
Red was incredible! Helen Mirren was outstanding as was Malkovich. Can’t wait to see the sequel this summer!
LOL. He was perfect for the character.
Last Man Standing was just fun shoot em up movie!
With Warren Beatty?
Die Hard was the best action flick of all time IMO.
No Warren Beatty in RED (Retired Extremely Dangerous)
Both movies were awesome!
Why thank you Colonel. -:)
I always leaned toward “True Lies” because it was a comedy.
Blart was surprisingly great. I don’t normally like comedies but this one was funny and it had a lot of heart.
The Karaoke bar scene was classic.......”I Believe in Magic!” *CRASH*
Precisely why I refused to see it for several years...
some more interesting tidbits
Die Hard is actually based on a book that came out in the late 70s. It was suppposed to be made into a movie starring Frank Sinatra but he turned it down.
In the mid to late 80s they wanted to use th story as the basis for a sequel to Commando, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he too turned it down
So they retooled it to Die Hard
Roderick Thorps 1979 Nothing Lasts Forever was the bases for “Die Hard” and Die Hard II was based on Walter Wagers 58 Minutes. I believe that Die Hard III was loosely based on the original “Goldfinger” by Ian Fleming.
Helen Mirren was really good in both movies. She’s certainly not stodgy and frumpy and she knows how to have fun.
LOL! The bar scene was hilarious.
Loved that movie. The only issue I have with movies such as that is the ubiquitous white east German type terrorist, which has become the only acceptable villain in these PC times. Heaven forbid there be a villain that remotely resembles what we know to be the most likely terrorist of today.
I like LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD as well. Tim Oliphant is the best villain after Rickman. “Have you got her? Are you sure?”
Brother and I did too, fun show.
