I don’t think there is any blatant promotion of them....his show has a mixture of many different people, singles, couples, families.
They don’t usually come off looking good anyway so it can’t exactly be called encouraging the cause, at least in the ones I have seen of “City the Kitty” and Cece/Aragon etc. Maybe just disproportionately problem homes for some reason. It is going to limit his audience though...at least makes me a bit wary of recommending the show to people I meet at the shelter that might be older or more socially conservative. :(
My young son will not be watching, though he wants to because there are cats, because they show weird couples and “celebrate” them. The pix and discussions of their relationships are not right. Having to hear their “stories” mentioning how they met, decided they’d become “girlfriends” and move in together. It’s wrong and I don’t like how things like this are all over TV, just waiting to tempt kids into watching and begging for it (just like all those damn obnoxious “cartoons” that are really for immature adults). We should never be put in this position, and frankly it turns my stomach even if I were just single.
