Where in the United States would you consider yourself the safest? Someplace where there were no hurricanes, no floods, no eathquakes, no tornados, no major blizzards, no black or Hispanic gangs, no black flash mobs, low chance of becoming a murder statistic, no muslim terrorists, insignificant traffic accidents, hidden from government murderers, relatively low chance of coming in contact with deadly bacterial or viral diseases,.......etc. What would be your choice? Is there such a place still left in the US? I'll give you mine later.
25.1 million in Texas as of 2010, 2nd most populous state in the Union.
No earthquake risk (or any other natural disasters) in my part of Colorado, but Denver is uncomfortably close.
I would think the Four Corners area would be an ideal spot to weather the coming storm.
Sadly I must agree. What’s the most dangerous place for a baby? In its mothers womb. Second most dangerous? Being left alone with her boyfriend, who is not its father.
I was asked by a young lovely several years ago at a party in West LA ‘Well, what do you do up there?’
‘Miss,’ said I, ‘we spend most of our time chasing oxygen molecules.’
No wonder i can’t get a date anymore...the younger set does not appreciate sarcasm.
Well, if that thing pops off, if you live north or east of the Grand Canyon, you can pretty much pack it in.
Amen...Amen...Amen!!! Sad, but TRUE!!! STAY MARRIED MOTHERS!!!! Or GET MARRIED BEFORE YOU GET PREGNANT!!
Heh...that's this year's road trip destination for wifey and I - as soon as "monsoon season" ends. Therefore, we've been researching the area; mostly Indian land, with not a ton of roads or services -- but probably remote enough to be trouble free.
“the safest area in the US was in the area of the SC/GA/TN border region.”

Since I spent 55+ years in Tennessee I am a bit biased, but I would pick the southeast TN area if I had to live in America.
Now that I am retired, however, I will live outside of the USSA, which is in drastic, and I think irreversible, decline. There is no way that I would live with Yankees, gay Californians, or dessert rats...No offense to FReepers stuck in those locations :)
Now that I am out of America, I live a nice life on less than $1000 per month, and that is for 3 mouths to feed.
There it is, for all the world to see..........LOCATIONI
Letta me guesa, dats a kinda rigatoni or da pasta de pichi?
LOL...my thoughts exactly!!
Slip in the tub??? You don’t need to bathe then, it’s SHTF time, there isn’t any bathing then! ;-)
But we need more conservatives.
I’m getting a place in one of the white counties. There is a holocene normal fault right in the driveway.
Prevailing winds will save the left coast. Shoot they need some supervolcano too.
Yup.....northern New England has some of the best quality of life that can be found anywhere. I have a retirement place set-up that I will be retreating to. Of course deep winter can be difficult, but I won’t have to go to work....I’ll just watch the snow fall.

Masshole drivers and taxes present an entirely different kind of danger.
I have been up to 10,000 feet once, as a kid, when my older brother drove me through a mountain pass in Montana.
However, I did not know people lived at that elevation in the US until your post, and a trip to Wikipedia to look up the highest town.
Learn something new everyday...
At 9494’ we’re only the 9th highest incorporated city in Colorado. I think the highest is Alma at 10,000 odd.
It’s breathtaking up here. (sarcasm on).
By the way, currently posting from 669ft above sea level.
However, my beloved State of Ohio tops out at a dizzying 1,550ft.
My twin brother was driving to Bellefontaine once and swears he saw a snow line...
