That happened before at another Park. The Woman on that ride literally popped out of the seat. She had short legs and a very large torso. The restraint bar was too low for her body.

Almost like squeezing a water balloon from the bottom. It pops out of your hand.

They make these things so that only Jet Pilots can handle the G forces.
Life is scary enough these days. If people really want to scared, have them watch C SPAN when the congress slugs debate a bill.

I rode the Texas Giant in December with my 11 year old son. Those were kids working, but I remember them being very serious and checking the restraints very well. I am a bit overweight and I fit in nicely and the restraints clicked and rechecked over and over. If this woman’s seat was not thoroughly checked by the teen workers, then it was human error. I will never let my kids or myself ride the Texas Giant again. So sad.

yeah, she didn’t die before she hit the ground. She was raising her hands in the air like everyone else, then brought them down, and that is when the seat restraints gave and she tumbled out.

Lots of unknowns at this time:

http://www.dallasnews.com/news/metro/20130719-woman-falls-to-her-death-from-six-flags-texas-giant-roller-coaster.ece

snip
Carmen Brown of Arlington was waiting in line as the victim was being secured in for the ride. She said she
believed that the woman’s son was on the ride with her.

Brown said the woman had expressed concern to a park employee that she was not secured correctly in her seat.

“He was basically nonchalant,” Brown said. “He was, like, ‘As long as you heard it click, you’re fine.’
Hers was the only one that went down once, and she didn’t feel safe. But they let her still get on the ride.”

She said the victim fell out of the ride as it made a sudden maneuver.

“The lady basically tumbled over,” she said. “We heard her screaming. We were, like, ‘Did she just fall?’”

end snip

Six Flags better get ready for a huge lawsuit. And the worker, if the story is true better be prepared for being fired, and a lot more actions taken against him. Could possibly have some criminal charges against him. God have mercy on that family!

“Six Flags has Muslim Days.”

They sure do. My little girl and I went on muslim day, not knowing that’s what it was. I thought we were in Iraq. Not wanting to leave, we waited in line for one ride and a muslim dude behind was chatting with his friends, using some of the most foul language you’ve ever heard. I turned around and told him to shut his filthy mouth. The look on his face was priceless...but he shut up. We left after that ride. We had season passes so it wasn’t a big deal but I was mad that they didn’t advertise it. I wouldn’t have driven all the way over there had I known.

6 flags has changed over the last 5 to 10 years. Used to be the employees that worked the restaurants, the clean up crew and lower level rides were all, shall we say, lower on the intelligence scale. The people working the major roller coasters were competent, quick moving and hard working. Not anymore, it seems that the clean up crew are now working the coasters. They are supposed to check the restraining bars before the train takes off and the last time I went, this idiot barely touched the bar with his fingers. I made sure my lap bar and my daughter’s lap bar were secure. They also allow alcoholic beverages to be served, something newly implemented. I’ve been boycotting them for a few years and now, I know I’ll never go back.

Nope, she flew out. Witnessed by her kids. I’m guessing it was ride operator error, not checking the restraints properly.

The last rollercoaster I rode was the “Ghost Rider” at Knotts Berry Farm about 10 years ago. It shook me arouns so much I had cramps in my legs for almost an hour after I got off.

Texas Giant will run on an entirely steel track when it reopens for the 2011 season. They put a steel track in the wooden frame.

I could probably still ride it considering that.

What gets me about the steel coasters is the odd loops and the fact that they sometimes go backwards.

I can deal with a normal loop so far as I’m going forward, but once I get into these sort of falling sideways loops or various other loop variations such as twist, I get very ill.

And God help me if it goes backwards through them.

So long as the coaster is just up and down and sharp turns, I love them.

To confirm what I had said earlier, she was a larger woman (https://twitter.com/jobinpnews/status/358682004566462464/photo/1). I have been to parks where the ride operators try all they can to fit larger guests on the rides, the take away from this incident might be that ride operators will be trained to kick off larger guests who do not easily fit into the restraints.

she shouldn’t have been riding. She was to large and you can’t get the bar over you being that large. I am a bit overweight(not as large as this woman was) and rode this in December last year. That bar was tight on me, but I made sure if it couldn’t go all the way on me I was getting off. It was tight, but I was secure. No way this woman was secure. NO WAY!

She could have hit the support beams/struts on the way down.

You are right. My home park (Cedar Point) has strict requirements when it comes to their rides. They have a staffer and a test seat at the entrance to each major ride, if you look like you might be too large to ride they make you try the test seat before you get in line.
