Actually what I said to start all of this off was that tragedy and inevitability are not mutually exclusive.

It was a tragic event for the parents (whose children, btw, are nothing like hitler and it is ridiculous for you to have made the absurd comparison).

You further compound the absurdity by blaming the parents, for not having done a good enough job raising their kids. Completely absurd, as you have no earthly idea how they were raised.

I am quite sure that a significant percentage of us, freepers extraordinaire, did some incredibly stupid things as kids and young adults, completely at odds with the way we were raised. I know I sure did. That is not the parent’s fault. And your blaming them (how else could you possibly mean “if mom and dad did a better job, none of this would have happened”) demonstrates a deeply flawed view of parenting.

For the record, I have 3 kids (21, 28 and 30), so have a bit of experience in the matter.

By the way, I appreciate your cordiality.

It wasn’t absurd. You made it sound like the loss of every child is a tragedy. Perhaps for the parent. Perhaps the sense of tragedy for the parent is they might have done better. I used the Hitler Mom and Pop as an extreme example. Everytime some one dies someone say “The poor parents.” I’m certain no one said that when Adolph offed himself. I’m rather certain no one felt sorry for Chuckie Manson’s folks either (Thought I have to admit, I am very curious what the parents of really bad people are like)

This “Glee” guy was obviously a piece of work, as are many in Hollywood. Sorry, not a loss, don’t give a hoot. 90 percent of these self destructive people have some sort of defect that is nurtured in their rearing.

For example, the article that keeps coming up on Freep about the 6 year old transgender kid. When he, she, it does what ever stupid thing and kills itself, I think we can say Mom and Dad (if that is the case) came up wanting.

What I will concede is that no matter how screwed up our rearing,or how much government schools tweek us, ultimately we are responsible for ourselves and our actions.

By the way, last time I checked 21, 28, and 30 aren’t kids. Now I’m pulling your leg :)

Thanks
