There's a secondary character named Freund in the Swedish period cop show Anno 1790. Yep, 1790, Sweden v. Russia, French Revolution, etc.
Come to think of it, perhaps he's watching too many of the Swedish crime shows. One of the local PBS stations runs three of them, with English subtitles.
