All that has been established is that the state was unable to prove Zimmerman's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

as evidence showed, Zimmerman had lost the thug and was on his way back to his truck, as evidenced by the 9-11 call. the thug had escaped. the only way for the confrontation to occur from that point would be for the thug to double back and attack

That is a reasonable interpretation of the evidence presented.
However, to say something has been “confirmed in a court of law” implies that the court has ruled on the issue.
Which it has not.
