I’ll drink to that!
Ah, wasn’t President Reagan of Irish decent?
Murphy’s stout and Guinness all round!
Thanks! Reagan is Irish, I think. Maybe.
Yes, Reagan is Irish. We’re in good company :)
Basques? It's not the first time I've heard that, although I've also read that Basques may have closely related to the Celts.
Besides the Celts, there were the Vikings (cities), Normans, Scots (also Celts - and there's some overlap with some Irish/Scottish surnames), English, and possibly descendants of Spanish Armada survivors all there.
Yes, we ARE!
It’s a long way from Tipperary
A long way to go.
It’s a long way from Tipperary
For the best conservative we know.
;-)
That’s the wrong way to tickle Mary,
That’s the wrong way to kiss!
Don’t you know that over here, lad,
They like it best like this!
Hooray pour le Francais!
Farewell, Angleterre!
We didn’t know the way to tickle Mary,
But we learned how, over there!
Some of my ancestors were Ulster Irish who located in Antrim County. I thought the Ulster Irish were relocated from the Scottish low borderlands with England. That would make them likely closer to the English in DNA wouldn’t it?
Probably. A mix of Celtic, Pictish, Anglo-Saxon, Viking, Roman, and Pre-Celtish settlers.
Good find! The t-shirts at the Scottish games quote the stirring lines about fighting for freedom, not the part about the origins of the Scots.
Yes, but the Scots (ancient Scotti) were originally an Irish tribe that migrated to what is now Scotland in the 7th-9th centuries, overunning and eventually assimilating the existing Pictish culture.
