VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) Officials are investigating the tagging of a $2.3 million Learjet at Van Nuys Airport.
LAPD says the tagging incident is believed to have happened in the early morning hours Sunday.
Authorities also believe the tagging incident was gang-related.
Pictures of the plane were posted on Twitter Friday.
The jet was reportedly vandalized with black spray paint.
Several images including the words R.I.P. and Flame were painted on the planes left front. Several initials were also spray painted on the planes tail.
Officials estimate damage to the plane to be about $100,000.
Sources told the LA Times that the plane is registered to an aviation company based out of Malibu.
Liberals tell us that graffiti is “art” and that these “artists” are creating art and sending a message and all that.
Ah, the real reason Janet Incompetano was seen fit to be part of the UC system management...
Good AP Security
Didn’t that happen last year too? Except it supposedly had Arabic writing?
Here it is:

This is a “Private” airport where politicians and Hollywood types keep their planes.
wow, 100K to repaint a plane? I’m sensing a business opportunity, I bet I could mask & spray that thing any color they wanted for far less.
Painting is actually one of the most expensive things in jet maintenance.
The old paint has to be stripped from the entire fuselage for damage like this. Not an easy task to safely get aircraft paint off of something that big.
Here’s a guide for aircraft painting if you’re looking to stay something:

Until you find out about all the regulations and licensing you need to do it!!!
That’s a 1997 Lear 60 - worth more than $2.2M. If the plane was doing a charter, the owner could involve the FBI...
Bummer, I wonder if they knew it was Jesse Jackson’s? /sarc
“Tagged”?? What’s wrong with old fashioned “Vandalized”? This isn’t a “Aw, look at the cute ‘tag’ on the jet” crime. Graffiti vandalism should be a Class A Felony...life imprisonment with no chance of parole. The greater San Jose area has been completely overrun the last few months.
hee, thanks, my reply was a bit tongue in cheek, I know it’s not a house. And no surprise that there’s a bunch of rules and regulations on it. Where would we be without the lawyers of course.
