I've seen just a couple of episodes of Under the Dome, and so far I haven't found anyone to like amongst the townspeople. The female Latina police chief isn't too bad, but other than that, I don't care if the aliens kill them all. The town seems to be full of creeps or - at best - people who aren't very interesting or engaging. Am I missing something or somebody?

Yes. I read the book. But, I’m not going to tell you who, of course. That would ruin it for you. :o)

Modern drama is based on the idea that no one is a good guy.

I rather enjoy the show. Don’t know the background if the probable former SPECOPS guy but he seems to be the only good guy.

I started watching it. Got about 2 minutes in. Unwatchable.

Anyone know if “The Bridge” is any good?

Agree. I refuse to be “agenda-ized”. The show is boring, the acting is dreadful. Waste of time.

If that show had any kind of logic, they would have construction crews working 24/7 outside the dome trying to smash through it and/or dig under it. But instead everyone outside just stands around picking their butt.

No aliens, it's bottom line is the conspiracy between the councilman, priest and the top cop( which is still dead ). The hoarding of propane is interesting as well as the fact that people are cooking and driving( pollution ) Remember the house fire, where’d that smoke go.
Good premise, but going hill faster than justice in the Zimmerman case.

The book was awesome and I’m excited to watch this entire series.

However, in the book, I don’t remember the main guy (Army Captain Dale “Barbie” Barbara) being a bad guy or killing someone...

And as with the majority of Stephen Kings works....there is ALWAYS evil at the center of every plot.

The ONLY thing I object to thus far in this tv series, is the gay couple at the bar, that got stranded in town. Really? Is it relevant to the story to have a gay couple? I think not. Pathetic, they just HAVE to push their agenda, don’ they?

Yeah, I noticed they had to throw that in, even in a small town, they had to have an interracial lesbian couple.

Another thing I've noticed is that even though the town is cut off from the outside world - and presumably all incoming food and other supplies - there has not been (in the episodes I've seen) a panic run on local supplies of food, matches, gasoline, and other modern necessities. In other books I've read where there is a major disaster (e.g., nuclear war), the FIRST thing that happens is that the stores are cleaned out of all food and other daily items (toilet paper, batteries, etc).

If you think the “Dome” is bad, wait until you get a load of “Bridge”. My wife and I didn’t make it through the first episode. It -really- sucks.

The whole show is a joke (seen all 3 episodes). The plot makes no sense, the actors are clichéd characters with horrible acting, and the holes in it are big enough for the entire town to escape out of.

Stephen King's "daughter Naomi wed her 54 year old lesbian partner Thandeka (who is a theological school teacher) in Nashville, Tennessee. [June 2000]" Source: IMDB

Should come as no surprise to have a lesbian couple in the TV series.

Heck, they do that around here when the forecast is for a few inches of snow.

SyFy’s Defiance has grown on me. Its got sort of a 2043 western feel to it. Nolan is the classic good guy lawman with a less than stellar past during the past war.

I think most FReepers would love a town like Defiance with full on in your face freedom right down to the freedom to ignore what we don’t like.

I haven't been watching the series, but that is a major plot point in the book.
