NORTHEAST HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A 15-year-old old girl is recovering from more than 100 puncture wounds on one leg and slashes on the other after a vicious dog attack in her own backyard.
Deputies said her own two pit bull puppies turned on her in an instant.
It happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 12000 block of N. San Circle Drive. According to investigators, the teenager was giving the puppies food and water when they lunged at her.
The two 8-month-old dogs had the girl pinned on the ground and were reportedly biting her repeatedly.
Family members were able to pry the aggressive pets off of Kasandra Benavides before things got worse.
She was screaming, Im going to die, said neighbor Lucero Almazan.
Benavides was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital where doctors stitched her up. Doctors expect itll be a while before she can walk again.
Shes got a lot of pain, explained father Juan Ruiz. I dont want these dogs back to my house.
The girls father Juan Ruiz said his daughter helped raise the puppies since they were four weeks old. He claims the dogs have never displayed any signs of aggression.
A neighbor, who wants to remain anonymous, has a different take on things.
Those two dogs killed the neighbors dog, said the neighbor.
The neighbor claims these same two pit bulls recently killed a shih tzu in their mobile home community.
We were all startled, and I was concerned for the safety our children, she said.
The two pit bulls are now in quarantine at Harris County Animal Control.

You asked.

Good job tending your dogs but you seriously need help with picking names.
:D
“Dogs were bred to serve man”
It’s a cookbook, you know.
:)

Send them to Washington, D.C. President You Didn't Build That can have his cooks turn them into soup.
If YDBT happens to be in a mood for more refined delicacies, maybe someone could drop off the puppies at Planned Parenthood. I assume murdering babies is much more emotionally rewarding than killing puppies, but perhaps some "choice" lover is anxious for something to slaughter while waiting for her baby to cross the 20-week mark.
Thanks for the information! So far all I see is that it's just one person doing what she thinks is right. Let's give them a few years and see if these, better trained dogs buck the trend.
yea but she got her name 9 yrs ago. Sadly I have a 5 yr old grandaughter who hasn’t yet learned that’s a bad work.
I’m not sure how I’ll explain that one away. I guess like always, I’ll speak the truth and tell her how she got the name and explain that people don’t say that word in public.
Start calling the dog “Smitty”.
The dog won’t notice and your little girl won’t yell out her real name in public, some day.
;D
All these years my understanding was that Dobies had been bred to be obedient to their master's commands. That did not necessarily include attacking people (although it might).
I have had three sitting shoulder to shoulder, all doing the "innocent look" with a word. Great breed.
That’s just one of *many*.
Didn’t know you wanted them all listed.
They’re big in search and rescue, service/support dogs, bomb/drug dogs, the cops are using them now and many are helping -truly- rehabilitate convicts.
Pits from the pound are given to the prisoners and they become totally responsible for the dog’s training and care.
The recidivism rate for the guys who are in the program is remarkably low.
Love them or hate them, there’s no way around the fact that “pits” are incredibly smart and easily trainable dogs.
[too bad the moron owners don’t take more advantage of that]
Little dog syndrome?
Sal, u right, I read that too.
Pits really can be good dogs.
They’re were cobbled together by a tax collector who had a lot of enemies.
One of the reasons that the police have stopped using them is that they are too independent.
Yes, they are very obedient..but not blindly so like other breeds.
You cannot tell one to run through a wall of fire just because you say so.
They “think” and if they think their owner is asking for something stupid or lethal, they won’t do it.
In a personal protection dog, independent thought is invaluable.
Suppose I think somebody is a good person but the dog knows otherwise?
What good is the dog if it only obeys my commands when I’m incapable of judging the true intentions of somebody ‘bad’?
I have had this exact scenario occur several times with my dogs.
The last was with Odin in WV and a dapper old man who, later, proved to be creepy and sinister.
I apologized for Odin’s ‘bad behavior’ at first but 5 minutes later, I understood why the dog was wanting to eat the old creep.
In 1980, I was sitting on the hood of my car eating fast food in a McD’s parking lot with my friend when a guy in a car pulled up.
All he said was “Hello, ladies” and my Dobe who was leashed to bumper lunged right into the guy’s window, snapping his pricey chrome martingale collar into pieces and going Cujo on him.
Totally freaked me out because the dog was highly trained and ‘bullet proof’.
The guy took off like a bat out of hell with the dog stull chasing him.
The next day, were talking to a local cop and found out that a guy matching his description was cruising the area, snatching girls out of parking lots and raping them.
I certainly didn’t know that about him...but the dog did.
They are the best breed, ever.
:)
Every dog can be a really good dog...if they have a really good owner.
Most of the time, they can still be pretty good dogs in spite of having stupid owners.
:)
Oh, yeah.
My 20 pound Portuguese Podengo Medio is the boss of the house.
The 100 pound Dobe dances to her tune.
Normally he sleeps on my sofa and she on the other sofa but when she hops into “his spot”, he stands under my laptop cart with his head on my knee, pitifully moaning his misery to me in the hope that I’ll tell her to vacate.
He doesn’t dare try to inhabit “his space” when she’s occupying it.
:D
I wish other owners would keep and control their own dogs. I live in the country and many just let their dogs roam around plus out where I live seems to be a good place to drop their dog off rather than at the pound.
Sal, that was funny.
Is the little one older and was the dobie a pup around the little one.
I live in the boonies too and rarely see dogs roaming.
People are respectful here.
[that, and we have laws that let people shoot any dogs harassing livestock...it makes you very “polite”]
I, also, think as a multiple dog owner my whole life, you pic up ques.
For example, if you just fed your dog some delicious mush, would you be stupid enough to get down on all fours and try to get a bite. I don’t think so
That very well could have been what happened.
