Don Williams - My Rifle, My Pony and Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA8FAYzrqcw
That's about as upbeat as he ever got. Great stuff.
He and Gordon Lightfoot probably the two best male singing voices I’ve heard.
Yes, I like that one, too. :)
Don’t know a lot of his music, but just discovered this one this afternoon. Heard the Dean Martin version which is good, but like Don Williams’ smooth voice.
Ah yes, Gordon Lightfoot. Have him on my homepage. :) Once again, don’t know a lot of his music, but love the Edmund Fitzgerald and If You Could Read My Mind.
Smooth as Wild Turkey American Honey whiskey. Goes down slick and makes you feel all warm inside.
LOL! Gotta try that sometime. If I had a shot of that while listening to Williams, I’d probably melt!
Give me Dean Martin & Ricky Nelson any day.
Okay, you got it!:

That is a very sweet, too. :)
Beautiful, simply beautiful!
My Little Pony...
:) Dolly Parton version?
Great post. I saw Don Williams in Branson about 20 years ago. There was almost no one there, so the wife and I were on 2nd or 3rd row. He came out and sat on a stool on the edge of the stage and sang for hours. It was no frills, but one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. After it was over he stood in the lobby and shook hands, posed for pictures and signed anything put in front of him. He was just a normal cowboy with an awesome voice.
Don Williams has a smooth voice and can sit on that stool and play forever it seems.
This has nothing to do with your thread but for anyone interested another country singer, Randy Travis is in serious condition and has undergone heart surgery.

Have appreciated Don Williams’ rendition of songs ever since he was a lead singer of the Pozo Seco Singers in Corpus Christi about 50 years ago.
Neat story. Nice to know when a person with talent is a nice person, too.
Wow, Randy Travis is only 54. Best wishes that he will recover.
