Aside from the fact you’re missing my point, what about regular yahoo mail? Have people been paying a fee for that as well? I’ve never heard of it (but then again I don’t pay very close attention to issues concerning the Web).

No, of course people don't pay for "regular" Yahoo! mail. They receive ads at the bottom of their emails instead.

If you pay for Yahoo! mail you don’t get ads. Why do you think you are entitled to something for nothing? Either accept the ads (which pay for the service) or pay for the service.

I don't mind the ads - they are an appropriate way to pay for the "free" service. I do mind the scanning. It's creepy and inappropriate. I will not deal with providers that scan my private communications - that's for tyrants like Obama, who have overwhelming force, not for companies that I freely choose to deal with.

I suspect that is true for all providers

I hate using Amazon.com because they track your browsing and make suggestions based upon that. Kinda creepy.

Oh, they definitely have been doing it for quite a while. I have noticed ads appearing for places from which I have made purchases, or sites I have perused but not made purchases, when I web surf/follow links, etc.

I have Yahoo mail for “crap,” and Reagan.com mail service for my “real” stuff.

I would definitely recommend having a nice, clean Reagan.com address for the “real” stuff.
