We have some in Little Rock that are the same. One in particular on 9th Street is 10'6". One of my new drivers, in 2005, drove a 13'6" box truck under that overpass - never hit the brakes and made it all the way through. The top was peeled off like a sardine can. $46,000 in damage in under 5 seconds.
And here I thought that computers were the devices that in the hands of "amateurs" could create havoc at a great rate.
I once had the extreme bad luck of being about 6 or 7 vehicles behind an over height truck (set off the over ht detector—I saw it but nothing I could do but brake!) that got stuck in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill Tunnel. Can we say gridlock? Amazingly NO accidents occurred—probably because anyone paying attention (except the rig driver) saw the flashing lights & knew what was about to happen.
They has to let the air out of the tires to tow it out.
OMG...I wonder if he had that fleeting feeling of “I wonder if the damage is really bad...”
