Fortunately I also went to public school when American exceptionalism was part of the history curriculum. I also learned to sing patriotic songs in elementary school and said the pledge of allegiance morning. A chaplain read a Christian prayer at my high school graduation on a military base.

When I saw the revisionist propaganda being taught to my daughter in public school in the 1990’s I pulled her out and made the financial sacrifice to send her to private school. Fortunately she received a good education and she has become a good citizen who abhors the socialist welfare state and oppressive government. Most of her peers seem completely indoctrinated with guilt feelings about slavery, third world nations victimized by American imperialism, and of course the environment ravaged by evil American corporations.

In my last five years of work for a large corporation I found the young people joining the company had been very effectively brainwashed by the education system. To them affirmative action, social responsibility and ethnic sensitivity were more important than driving sales and profits. They believed the profits belonged to the government and the community, not the shareholders.
