96-year-old turns to social media to find son

TLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A 96-year-old woman searching for her son is capturing hearts on the internet.

A family member of Nancy Thomas posted a picture on Facebook urging users to help find her son Donald Lee Thomas.

Nancy is pictured holding the sign that reads: "He was not given up for adoption, I haven't seen him in 10 years."

She wrote that he was last seen in Atlanta, GA.

I was also confused by the ‘not given up for adoption’ thing. If he’s in his 50s and she says she has not seen him for ten years, then it’s not likely he was given up for adoption as a child.

Thanks for posting the poster she made…

“It’s been 10 years”… doesn’t say she’s ever seen him- maybe that’s how long she’s been looking ?
“last known location Atlanta, GA”- maybe that’s where the search went dry?
“He was not put up for adoption” - back in those days, babies were often taken without consent when pregnant teens were sent to ‘homes’ to be hidden from friends and family because of the shame of the pregnancy, and ‘what would the neighbors think?’ mentality. My birth mom did NOT want me taken away, but she had no choice if she ever wanted to return home, and had SO much shame dumped on her head about my existence, she was basically given no options… it was horrific and NO birth mom should be treated like that unless they have a history of harming their kids. It’s better now- but back then, it was a nightmare.

Nobody knows the full story for Nancy Thomas… the first date I can find for this posting is 2013… so she’d have been 37 when Donald was born. There’s some story behind this that none of us knows…. I just hope she can have some sort of happy ending- and that Thomas will be open to contacting her- if nothing else to find out what happened. <3

He was not taken.
He is an aduld who went missing 10 years ago.

It appears that he is dead.

The person listed as dead in post 16 had a different birth date than her son.

I didn’t see any more updates that he had been found....just the original plea for help.
