These are interesting colorized photos. I don't know the entire context or history behind these ... I can only assume that these are of the kids of US missionaries and/or diplomats posted to this region back then.
(If anybody knows some history or background about these pictures, please post details on this thread.)

The bottom line of the Hebrew description says:
American Colony Hotel.
Here’s a link to the history of that Jerusalem hotel that is still there. Your theory that these were or included children of missionaries fits with the history:
