He was actually one of the most decent human beings who ever reigned as a monarch. Much like his contemporary Louis XVI, they didn’t deserve what happened to them. Most of their ancestors did, but not them.
Even George III would come out of his madness long enough to refer to it as “my tedious illness”, and to apologize to the ladies he had offended with his insane ourbursts.
