Perry would be great in office for the reasons you mentioned, but he didn’t do a great job campaigning. (George Washington probably wouldn’t have done well either campaigning!)
And not to be negative; but some people would complain he isn’t conservative enough also. (Perry, not Washington!)
I like Perry. I think he would be a good President. I can only think of a couple of people I would like better.
Saddest post I have read on Free Republic in 8 years. He has love for illegal immigrants which is against conservative principles. Hopefully you will change your mind on this liberal Republican.
Is this true?
Please provide some detail. Not saying it is, or is not correct. Just trying to learn something.
I am not in Texas, so do not get a great deal of detail on Perry at the moment.
Thanks in advance.

That is just one of millions of articles that show that Perry LOVE illegal Aliens. He told conservatives that we are heartless and don’t care about people if we are against illegal immigration. He also fought hard to have illegal aliens have college tuition at the cheapest prices possible. He is one guy who will not back down on his love for illegal immigration. If it were up to him, he would IMMEDIATELY make all illegal immigrants American Citizens today especially on the Fourth of July. Perry overall is NASTY!
He LOVES Illegal Aliens. That alone is a liberal stance that will cause more damage to American than anything else. We have two PERFECT candidates who ran in 2012 and that was Bachmann and Santorum, but liberal Republicans and FREEPERS would rather have liberal Romney. Sad state of America.
Oh gag. You illegal alien lovers kill me. You want to destroy America. Thank God Perry is in Texas. He is better for that state. Look at how he is banning abortions after 20 weeks. You should be happy about that. I know I am. I think Perry is better in Texas. The ONLY thing I worry about Perry in Texas is his love of illegal aliens and Texas eventually turning blue because of Perry.
If you gag on what I said, I think it is time for your nap.
Again you are trashing the military. Why do you constantly have to be rude to the Naval Academy Preparatory School. I swear no wonder you love Perry. Lord pray that this guy grows up someday.
You are one of the rudest people on FR and you wonder why people are rude to you.
Palin/Perry - 3rd party. Think of what fun that would be. Heads would be exploding on both sides......

I don’t see how running for Gov again would constitute “exciting new plans”. It’s not like he hasn’t been there done that a few times.
Running for Senate, OTHO...
So far as I can tell, Cornyn and Perry came up through different avenues in Texas. Cornyn was hesitant to endorse Perry in 2011.
It would explain something that has been nagging me about Texas politics: why is AG Abbott (he strikes me as a Perry ally) running hard for Texas Gov if Perry is going to enter the race. Surely Abbott already knows the answer to that question and would “wait his turn” if he knew Perry was running again.
Combine AG Abbott running for Gov with the fact that Perry needs to be in elective office to have a shot in 2016 and I’ve puzzled over why Abbot is out there running now if Perry needs to run as well.
Perry running for Senate would answer that question. I think He’d easily beat Cornyn. It was would add Washington experience to his Executive experience and raise his profile in ways that being Gov. again in 2016 wouldn’t.
It has also surprised me that Cornyn hasn’t fielded a Texas insider to run against him in the primary. He’s certainly vulnerable. He acted like he was going to have a legit opponent by opposing the immigration bill (something he supported until the final vote). Cornyn’s vulnerability is the kind of opportunity people like Staples or Combs should jump at - but nothing so far.
Perry opposing Cornyn makes some sense in the above context. Just some speculation on my part.
Utter bullcrap.
CORNYN... he needs to go join his buddy kaybarelyrepublican.
Perry and Cruz would be a pair to draw to. Brains and courage and governor good hair.
So another words, you feel if people are rude to you, you are free to be rude to them? lol. Such a mature thinking. Good God I hope you are not typical of a leader......Oh and as far as my alleged rudeness. Are you saying that pointing out that you are ignorant of conservative principles and military acronyms is rude. I call it giving you a MUCH needed education.
I’m sorry I bought into the RINO Perry stuff early on during the last election. It was totally untrue. I hope he decides to run again in 2016. I would be glad to vote for him.
Where’s my sweater vest ?
Actually I do not remember Perry ever saying that and even you would have to admit that he has spent a bunch of Texas money trying to secure the border, which is a federal responsibility. He is left to deal with the problems caused by the feds failure to do anything on the border. I don’t have much of a problem with anything he has done here. Perry does have one quality I really like; he doesnt forget who brought him to the dance. I remember back around 2004 or 2005 he signed a parental notification bill on a churchs property. The lib media went nuts and a reporter asked him why he was alienating people by doing that. He replied with something like the people who were upset wouldnt vote for him anyways, but the people at the church would. That impressed me and has stuck with me because basically I don’t trust politicians and all I require of a politician is that he remember who brought him. I also like that if he catches enough heat from his base on a decision hell change it, which I believe is proper. As far as Bachmann and Santorum go I do not agree they are perfect. Anybody that thinks any politician is perfect is wrong in my view. I do not know what they would do if they were in an executive position and neither do you because neither one has ever been there. I know they have both done things I was not happy with (for example Bachmann accepting large farm subsidies while railing against big government and Santorum backing Specter over Toomey come to mind), but most politicians do that at some point. Obama showed us all how easy it is to mask your real agenda when you are part of a larger group such as a Senator or a Congressman. That is why I prefer candidates with executive experience in either government or business to those that have none.
