A racking takes about half a second and with no other safety it is the only way Zimwad should have gone.

If you have some reason to think you might need a gun (which, as it turns out, he did) you need it now, not after a slow, two handed operation. I repeat, it would be fatally stupid to carry a gun which is not operational. Always carry with a round in the chamber. Always.

If you carry like you say you’re gonna get killed if you need to use your weapon. My guns always have a round chambered. If the bad guy has a gun on you, you won’t have time to chamber a round. And Martin caught him from behind unawares. I’ve had four times in my life when showing my gun stopped a situation, luckily I didn’t have to shoot.
