(Reuters) - Volunteer watchman George Zimmerman suffered "insignificant" injuries in the fight in which he shot and killed unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, a medical examiner testified on Tuesday, as prosecutors attempted to undermine Zimmerman's claim he feared for his life.
Testifying for the prosecution at Zimmerman's trial, Medical Examiner Valerie Rao said she reviewed Zimmerman's medical records and 36 pictures of his injuries taken at the police station after the fight.
"They were not life-threatening. They were very insignificant," Rao told the Seminole County criminal court jury.
Zimmerman, 29, has said Martin, 17, punched him in the face and repeatedly slammed his head into a concrete walkway. Zimmerman, who is white and Hispanic, could face life in prison if convicted.

It like How may licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop..the world will never know...
It is true that Zimmerman escaped without serious (as in permanent or life-threatening) injury.
That does mean that someone whose nose has been broken, who is pinned to the ground and has no leverage, whose head is being punched and slammed onto the ground, does not have a reasonable fear that his life is in danger.
The prosecution is truly desperate to let this woman lie like this. All the jury has to do is see the pictures.
What kind of a job does a doctor who graduates at the bottom of her class in medical school get?
A: ??????
Not merely insignificant, but “very insignificant”. The lady has an agenda.
They should ask her if she would advise a parent to take their child to the ER for similar bleeding head wounds.
Yes, do we have to wait until “significant” injuries take us out of the fight, or can we shoot before our assailant disables us?
It looks to me like one of those “I Voted” badges they give you at the polling places.
So Zimmerman can have multiple blows to his head and it is insignificant.... But.... 1 blow to an NFL head and they call it serious and perform all kinds of tests.....
So, it isn't THAT difficult to listen to
So, this knarf guy just don't know what he's talkin' about
Former employee speaks out about medical examiner

“Weinstein’s is just one of many complaints we found in new documents Tuesday. According to an internal memo from the city, Rao called an employee a “redneck” and violated city polices numerous times. In many cases, we found Rao was never disciplined. We even found the city looked at having Rao removed.
It all stems from years of complaints about Dr. Rao’s unsanitary procedures, washing her feet in the autopsy sink, using bare hands during procedures, and even accusations of exposing doctors to deadly diseases.”
So angela corey REPLACED the original ME and inserted this train wreck from Jacksonville.
seems she was an incompetent buffoon who is employed by virtue of a draconian firing procedures of state government employees.
Was there an opening for the defense to get this stuff in?
That “medical examiner” was a village idiot to the extreme. The Mayo Clinic.
“Intracranial hematoma causes.
The cause of intracranial bleeding (hemorrhage) is an injury to the head, often as a result of an automobile or motorcycle accident or even a seemingly trivial event, such as bumping your head. Mild head trauma is more likely to cause a hematoma if you’re an older adult, especially if you’re taking an anticoagulant or anti-platelet drugs, such as aspirin. A serious injury may have occurred even if there’s no open wound, bruise or other outward sign of damage.
If a hematoma results from the injury to your head, it may occur as a subdural hematoma, an epidural hematoma or an intraparenchymal hematoma.
Subdural hematoma
This occurs when blood vessels usually veins rupture between your brain and the outermost of three membrane layers that cover your brain (dura mater). The leaking blood forms a hematoma that compresses the brain tissue. If the hematoma keeps enlarging, a progressive decline in consciousness occurs, possibly even resulting in death.
The three types of subdural hematomas include:
Acute. This type is the most dangerous. It’s generally caused by a severe head injury, and signs and symptoms usually appear immediately.
Subacute. In subacute subdural hematoma, signs and symptoms take longer to appear, sometimes days or weeks after your injury.
Chronic. Less severe head injuries may cause a chronic subdural hematoma. Bleeding from a chronic subdural hematoma may be much slower, and symptoms can take weeks to appear. You may not even recall injuring your head.
All three types require medical attention as soon as signs and symptoms are apparent, or permanent brain damage may result.”

I’ve had blows to my head resulted in no outward signs of damage. I’ve contact cement, asphalt, plenty of football hits... which knocked my optical nerve out of alignment as in “seeing stars”. Heehee I can’t even remember all the times. :-)
“Very insignificant”??
With all that blood we saw?
