To: Hardastarboard

The story goes that Adolphus Busch (?) had the recipe for a Czech beer known as Budvar (Budejovich?) that bears a striking resemblance to Budweiser. You can buy the green-bottled Czech version and they taste almost identical.

I was under the impression that the Belgians buying out Anheuser-Busch was the Europeans getting back at the Busch family for stealing the recipe.

This is all second-hand, so don’t hold me to any of this.

Actually, the Czech original, sold here as "Czechvar" for copyright reasons - although, being brewed in the town of Budweiss (the German name for Česke Budjejovice) it's proper name is Budweiser - is vastly superior in my opinion.
