Are Shih Tzus expensive to keep? I’m not a small dog fan, so I don’t know all that much about them except that they are awfully cute...

Shih Tzus do need to be groomed regularly as their fur grows continuously. I saw the breeder groomed her own dogs. That would help, but I prefer to pay a groomer. Every 2-4 months depending on the season. I will let Buffy grow out for the winter months, shorter in the summer as she is outside getting dirty a lot. Can’t let her get too long in the winter really, as the snow clumps in the fur making a mess to clean up inside.

They need grooming every 6-8 weeks and sometimes have skin problems and allergies that require a costlier shampoo process or meds to control. That is where the expense comes in, because they are cheap to feed otherwise. They are sweet natured dogs, even if I do tease my dad and friends with them that they are cats in dog suits.
