Yes, he had some catchy pop songs when he was just a boy with the Jackson 5 in the early 1970s and in 1979, he put out a half decent solo album ("Off The Wall") but since then, it's been mostly recycled garbage. So he got Eddie Van Halen to do a guitar riff in "Beat It" and and did something called the "moonwalk" when he was singing "Billie Jean" which was really just a gimmick you could train a monkey to do. But aside from that, his music was mostly garbage. Especially those insipid duets he did with Paul McCartney like "Say, Say, Say" and "Ebony & Ivory" that inexplicably made it to number 1 on the pop charts.
Musically speaking, he was nothing special and I'd rather see a Joe Jackson concert (and I'm not talking about his father, either).

He didn’t do “Ebony and Ivory” with Paul McCartney. That was Stevie Wonder.
