Finally, an area in which I am normal. I do indeed prefer familiar faces, and it usually takes weeks or months (and occasionally, years) before I realize a man is attractive. Only 2 times in my life have I been hit instantly by a wave of interest the first time I looked at a man. All the rest of the men I've been attracted to (even celebrities who have become favorites) have had to grow on me over a period of time.

In fact, I really missed out once in college because this guy was hitting on me at a gathering of the grad students in my department, and I just didn't have any interest in him. By the time I got to know him well enough to realize he was pretty cute and very interesting, he'd moved on and found someone. I was like "Well doesn't that just figure."

Sometimes that’s because they’re NOT attractive younger. Even 20yos can look thin and wan (and I’m not talking about the vegetarians) but 15 years later they’ve buffed out much better, even the head/face.
