So let’s review. Cop looking for suspect hiding from the police, looks into a back yard and sees it is protected by a dog, a dog so “fierce” that the cop feels compelled to shoot it. Did it ever dawn on the cop that the suspect would not be there because of the dog?

The cop wasn’t afraid of the dog.

The cop *liked shooting* the dog.

A cop which *likes* to shoot dogs will almost certainly one day turn his itchy trigger finger on his fellow man.

That would take a higher level of critical thinking skills most cops cannot fathom...
