To say I'm shocked at Coulter's assertion would just be a lie. This is Ann Coulter. She says ridiculous nonsense on a regular basis. But on top of her magically ridiculous statements, the oh-so-reasonable Sean Hannity -- the host who should rein in commentary on his show that has gone completely off the rails -- simply let her statement stand. Sure, she just said that gun violence is an issue only with communities of color, but whatever.
Since when are people of color Americans? If gun violence affects only them (which it doesn't), then we don't really need to address it!
So, quick question: With these shining staples of the right wing, why should nonwhites feel comfortable with the Republican Party again?

Democrats divided the country up racially for everything - EXCEPT inappropriate behavior that might explain some of the other statistics.
Example: young blacks have a high unemployment rate. That comment should be paired with statistics on their higher delinquency rate, school dropout rates, gang membership etc... Lots of factors play into hiring decisions OTHER than color of skin... I'm not sure if Coulter's numbers are exact, but I get her point.

The author doesn’t dispute Ann’s statement so I’m guessing that she is correct and truthful.
I don't understand why Elon asked that non-sequitur question but the answer is, officially, July 9th 1868. One could argue that they always were and that laws to the contrary prior to that date were simply an un-Constitutional miscarriage of justice.
I have no problem with them posting on FR. Rarely do they bring facts into the debate and it is interesting to see their point of view.
Somewhere along the line we whites have made a mistake. Originally, gun control was to keep firearms out of the hands of the black slaves so they wouldn’t be used as weapons against slave owners. Or at least that’s how I understand it. Then gun control was furthered into keeping guns away from all blacks unless they had written permission to be carrying the firearm from the owner and it had to be used as a hunting tool.
Remember that college educated legislators were the people who determined the gun laws across America today. A few of them make sense but in my opinion most of them are feel good laws.
These days, if we had color controlled gun control there would certainly be a lot less murders. Or maybe we should adjust the law where if you are receiving money from the government which shows that you are not capable of supporting yourself, then you should also not be permitted to posses a firearm. I don’t know. I’ve only got a high school degree.
And no..I don't like it when I hear "nasty" from Black rappers either. Fix it or clean it up, but excuses won't get rid of the stink. Two wrongs do not make a right.
As to the outrage about Blacks getting a pass in the media...well it's wrong, offensive and divisive to always reflexively take one side, and the media always do just that. Everyone knows which side they fall on, especially the lawyers and wind surfing pols.
Trust me, I get it. I've had more than a few race cards pulled on me by people who do it on reflex. I actually had to quit a job that I loved, working with 99% Black coworkers, over what I call "one nasty, black, racist, political hack".
The only way to fix the mess is to get the laws changed to reflect the current century so there is real equality in the legal system. Right now corporations and legislative bodies are fearful of the race card to the point of reverse discrimination against whites.

The media is still in the 60's and I think they try to divide people to help keep their overlords in power. There is no fair debate on race..and I think a years old case of 'speaking before thinking' is ridiculous to prosecute. The food network is making a big mistake...JMHO

Recently I was told on a Deen-related thread that "nigger" is worse than other racial terms and shouldn't be allowed because it caused lynchings, and brought up the issue of "abject terror" suffered by blacks at the hand of the white mob.
The only mobs I see these days are black ones, frequently targeting and beating whites. Think those folks experience any abject terror?

Unfortunately, I don’t recall that detail. I read some in-depth studies in the early 90s, and have skimmed others since which all say pretty much the same thing. The wording I recall was “of English ancestry”...which suggests they were controlling for race, but I’d have to find it 20 years later to dig into the control population characteristics.
So we know that black crime, violent crime in particular is hugely disproportionate compared to whites but the question is what to do about it.
