I left the USA in February 2013, sold everything, bought a house on the Pacific ocean in San Juan del Sur Nicaragua... All the expats here are like you and me...threw the towel in on the BS in the US and we are living a quiet slow paced life as it used to be in the 40s and 50s that used to exist in the US.
I have every creature comfort, very inexpensive to live here. I have some guys doing work for me sanding and farnishing exterior wood on my porch...rate of pay for an 8 hour day here...per man is $8.00...yup 1.00 an hour...these men work hard and are honorable.
Morals and ethics people miss in the USA exist in other countries...
Get out while you can and don’t let the fear of the unknown stop you...as the earlier expats have stepped up and took us under their wings, we are now doing the same for new expats.
My father in law has just bought a 6 acre farm on a mountain side about 15 km from us, we will soon grow our own food, raise chickens and pigs, we are going off the grid and will by this time next year only have a few recurring bils of about TOTAL (groceries, cell phone, wifi, electric, water, opane and diesel about 500.00 US a month...I paid for my house outright nd my annual property taxes were 353.00 for the year.
I should have my 5 year green card in a few months....
The medical benefits here are wonderful, some services are free most are very inexpensive.
The country pople used to know and love has died...your elected officials have sold you all out...they don’t know how to fix all the messes they have created and are only creating more...
The USA is on a fast decline into chaos...
Get out while you can before the USA stops the exodus of the people who have “eyes that can see”...
Yes, I retire in Sept, then get my affairs in order, and head to that south sea island beach in the Philippines. I was there in Feb, got a house already, and I am leaving soon.
