They are red throughout with great strawberry flavor and the core was left on the stem when I pulled them. Pine bark is a little pricey here due to the shipping costs...

We’re using chipped pine cones. Getting rid of them helps fireproof the property, and adds acid mulch to the garden areas that need it, such as berries: limestone soils here.
