Breakfast wasn’t breakfast unless you were having a Bloody Mary or a Screwdriver. Lunch had the required 6 beer minimum, and dinner was usually a mix of wine, scotch, and whatever beer was left in the fridge.
Reload the next day, and repeat.
As far as Gandolfini’s meal, that sounds about average for a man his size. I could sit and put down 6 to 8 20 oz. beers, an appetizer, a large entree, and dessert when I was over 350.
I’m betting it was was the double order of fried fish topped off by the foie gras. Double fat accompanied by a side order of fat.
I hear you. When I was stationed in Germany, Friday nights were spent with friends at our favorite gasthaus: Jagerschnitzel, pommes frites, a salad, and a gallon of Konigsbacher Pils over the course of 2-3 hours, and (sometimes) several shots of Jagermeister.
At the time, my weight was around 200. It's a bit less than that today, as I've changed my eating habits out of necessity.
Ironically, most alcoholics don’t die directly from alcohol. They die from accidents or high blood pressure or heart attacks.
You can tell when an alcoholic is going to drink himself to death because he quits eating and subsists almost solely on alcohol alone.
