Paula Deen is again defending herself after an admission went public this week about her past use of the N-word.
The celebrity chef has come under fire after a newly filed deposition revealed that she used the widely condemned racial slur years earlier.
On Wednesday, her lawyer released a statement that said the Food Network star "does not condone or find the use of racial epithets acceptable." A day later, Paula Deen Enterprises released a new statement echoing that position.
"During a deposition where she swore to tell the truth, Ms. Deen recounted having used a racial epithet in the past, speaking largely about a time in American history which was quite different than today," reads the statement given to PEOPLE. "She was born 60 years ago, when America's South had schools that were segregated, different bathrooms, different restaurants and Americans rode in different parts of the bus. This is not today."

A good commie lib DemocRAT would have just said, “I don’t recall ever using that word.” That would have been the end of it.
Oh good grief. People are making waaaaaaaaay too much out of this. When I first heard about this on a late night talk show last night, you’d think she was saying the n-word frequently and recently.
She told the truth in a court of law when she was under oath to do so.
She said one of the times she did it was in describing a bank robber who robbed a bank where she was working as a young woman and whom held a gun to her temple during the robbery.
If I’m not mistaken, this episode caused her to get severe agoraphobia for years, where she was too fretful to even leave her home much.
It is apparently nothing she did with frequency and NOT something she has done recently.
...or cry me a Double-Standard river!
Exactly. On the one hand, people want white folks to recognize that there was a time down south when things were way less than harmonious, and that white people used offensive slang to describe black folks.
Deen confirms that this is true, but says that she has evolved...and it’s some huge scandal.

I’ll care about an irrelevant white celebrity using a racist term when black leaders and the mainstream media care about the much more dangerous and seemingly endless number of racist “teen” attacks on innocent white people.
Geez...these people are picking the fly shit out of the pepper. Ms. Jackson is looking for $$$
“I don’t recall”
Whatever.
Yawn

Ah, but what makes you think that there are any INNOCENT white people? Just like to a Muslim, there are no innocent Infidels!
Well did she go on TV and say it over and over like every black comic on the comendy channel stand up does?
Seems to be much ado about nothing.
Gee, I wonder if Robert Byrd ever used tha word. Or Billy-Jeff Clinton?
Naw, they’re good Democrats...
She’s also a big “Rat
I recall it being part of everyday language.
I don’t specifically remember an instance where they said Bill Clinton used it, but his brother Roger definitely. However, Bill’s mentor was Orval Faubus.
I’ll never understand why’’ people of color’’ will call themselves ‘’people of color’’. Call them ‘’colored people’’ and you’re a racist.
