“The police officer did nothing wrong.”

Of course, he only struck a four year old and victimized her twice.

Clearly the government employee must be absolved of blame.

How so? I thought of the Zimmerman case, too. Man threatened with beating shots to defend himself. What’s different? Their colors?

[[This is an occasional problem in poor black neighborhoods. If you’re a white motorist passing through a dangerous black neighborhood and accidentally hit someone, you will need to make a split second decision on whether to make your way to the nearest police station or stick around and risk being killed by irate neighborhood residents. If this cop hadn’t been armed, he might have been maimed or beaten to death. He was probably injured taking a spill from his motorcycle and likely had no alternative to shooting his assailants, especially given that he was outnumbered 2 to 1 and additional help for those assailants was probably in the process of materializing.]]

Deserves reposting- This cop was IMMEDIATELY attacked- and all the neighbors i nthe video were excusign hte father’s actions by saying ‘of course he woudl be upset’ Yeah? I was upset abotu beign pulled over a few times, but that didn’t give me hte right to ASSAULT a POLICE officer

You are correct that this man- outnumbered, and beign attacked, had to make a tough choice- but of course al lthe cop haters will ikely justify hte father’s actions and villify the cop

The evidence he was traveling at an unsafe speed for conditions is the injured four year old child.

You seem determined to forget this in your attempts to defend a government employee.

I can understand (but not condone) the Father's reaction in this case.
NORMAL people do not not react this way - nor do they take their 4 y/o children bar hopping!
I can't wait to hear what you have to say after you receive some father's "understandable" reaction.

How is it manslaughter when the girl ran out in traffic? Could you have missed her?

An unsupervised 4 yr old child runs into the middle of the street late at night.

Then the cousin and father attack the police officer, beating him to the ground.

After he tried to avoid hitting her.

Totally justified reaction by the LEO. People need to control their children and be responsible for them. It was not the cop’s fault.

I wonder if you would have the chutzpah to tell this girl, to her face, that she is better off without her Daddy.

Doesn’t matter if he was a police officer or not, no justification in a group beat down.

The four year old was in the company of an 18 year old. Ergo, she *was* supervised.

Amazing the contortions some here are doing to justify a government employee at all costs.

Very similar to the Zimmerman case.

Being in the process of being beat to death and invokes self defense.

Gotta give the officer credit, broken leg and shoulder and being plummeted and kicked after being sucker punched to the ground.

Why didn't the “father” go to see how his injured daughter was??

This should have turned out OK for the cop, but not if he was white. I don't know if he is or not.

[[The attitude is simple. When an accident occurs, the reaction should not be to physically attack the other party.]]

Bingo- as someoen pointed out- our society is deevolvign into a pack of rabid animals, angry at ev eryone- always looking to kick the crap out of someone- years ago the first reaction woudl have been sorrow and cocnern, but hten shortly after the realization woudl be “Dear Lord, You are just, life is short, and I am unworthy for the tiem you have granted me and my family here on earth, and I thank You”- Even unsaved peopel had a sense of destiny and didn’t cosntantly go aroudn blaming others for htweir troubles, even when accidents occured- they accepted fate- EVEN IF a drunk killed a lvoed one- - Grasnted, not everyone was as acceptign of fate- however- a majority were, and their first reactions were NOT to attack and kill or attempt to murder the person who was ALSO a victim of the accident

The officer announced his profession in an attempt to calm the father who was at this point already escalating toward the assault. Father acted out of emotion (not saying anyone would do different) and this ended tragically for all parties.

I think it depends on where you live. In rural agricultural farm communities we have very few cops and they tend to be local guys come home from the service or after finding that city life sucks and they want to raise their family in the same environment they grew up with.

They are as concerned about TEOTWAWKI and defending the community from the zombies that will be streaming out of the city as we are.

You seem determined to forget this in your attempts to defend a government employee.

Offer evidence or shut the hell up. You speculate about high speed, but offer nothing other than the officer's response as proof.

Sorry, that doesn't fly. So no one ever, while traveling at or under the speed limit, has ever hit anyone who stepped/ran into the street in front of them? Bull excrement.

“After he tried to avoid hitting her.”

Demonstrating that he was traveling at an unsafe speed-—traveling too fast to be aware of pedestrians and observing their behavior *before* he only had two remaining choices.
