No, not made up. I have friends in the UK and Australia who regularly use brekkie. Ressie is something I often see on vacation-oriented websites from UK contributors.

One irritating Australian woman I know insists on using the word ‘cossie’ - for bathing costume. And a sandwich is ‘sanger’
I don’t see much of her, thank goodness.
