Fox News interviewed a lady from Rotten Tomatoes about the weekend box office and she was perplexed about the number of negative reviews. She loved the movie.

IMO, the Superman character is so ingrained into society that everyone has their own opinion as to how he should be portrayed. It's doubtful you'd ever get universal praise or criticism, not matter how good or bad a movie about him might be.

Remember, some folks loved Superman Returns.

I liked Superman Returns, but I hated Broadway Lex Luthor. I was convinced that Kevin Spacey was going to break out in a song.

I had an interesting learning experience back in 1978. I had always been a huge fan of Superman comics. I had a friend who was mentally challenged and couldn’t read, but he absolutely loved the old TV series with George Reeves. When we talked about the movie, he didn’t like it because it was so different from the series, while I loved it because it was so close to the comics. It’s all a matter of perspective.

I really enjoyed it. The characterization of Superman felt very different this time around. In every other film/TV show, Superman always felt like a human with an exotic background and super abilities. With this film’s focus on Kryptonians, even by the end of the movie I still saw Superman as an alien living among us.

I thought that was very different and interesting.
