Gov. Brian Sandoval has vetoed a bill requiring background checks for gun sales between private parties, saying it imposes unreasonable burdens and harsh penalties upon law-abiding Nevadans, while doing little to prevent criminals from unlawfully obtaining firearms.
In his veto message, the governor said background checks would constitute an erosion of Nevadans Second Amendment rights under the United States Constitution and may subject otherwise law-abiding citizens to criminal prosecution.

God bless the governor imposing his veto. His heart and mind are in the right place.
Can somebody please send that article to Chris Christie?
He’s the guy running for re-election as governor of New Jersey who is really running for President.
Good to see the pipsqueak and his MAIG getting bitch slapped

We won today. You wouldn't believe the number of Nevadans who came out of the woodwork against this bill.
Mayor Bloomberg, keep your ass out of Nevada.
This is a tremendous win, not only because of the veto, but because of the reason he gave for the veto. This helps the momentum for other politicians to use the Constitution as a reason to veto or pass laws in order to uphold their oath of office.
It erodes the old insane “progressive” ideal that only the courts can decide what is Constitutional, and they can make the Constitution into anything they want.
Meanwhile in CT, they are going to make a .22 rifle with a pistol grip or other deadly cosmetic feature an “assault weapon.”
I called Brian’s office twice on my different phone lines to vote against it. Then thanks to Bloomberg, I call using his 800 number and voted against it ten more times. I do appreciate him installing that system for us.
Thank you Michael Bloomberg for providing an avenue for which I could voice by disapproval of this bill to Gov. Sandol (multiple times).
When the issue turned to freedom we were all Nevadans for a time. And we can thank the Mayor for the use of his toll free number. :o)
I’m gonna call and send him a note as well. You can bet they’ll be back next session. We will be ready. Propose they drop the CCW requirement like AZ and VT have. Sounds like a plan to me. Save the state money by not having to maintain the system. Hhehehe!
wow! a part of our government has common sense! if only everyone else would follow
Congratulations to a governor with guts.
Here come the Democrat “mainstream” newrsoom jackals.
