I have been using a Dell XPS 1530 for 7 years. No problems here.

Larger screens on MacBook Pros use more battery.
The retina display has no optical drive, smaller storage capacity and costs more.
Go for the 13” MBP with the HDD. Great machine. I’ve had mine now for 46 months and it is completely up to date and trouble free. And I carry it around every day. Original battery still at 88% after 617 load cycles.

What virus protection do you use and how often do you update it and Windows?
The whole point is dumping the hassles of Windows and viruses.

Even the new MacPro announced monday has no internal optical drive and no internal expansion slots. All expansion is by Thunderbolt high-speed and usb interface.

I’m using a 15” MacBook Pro and love it. My last laptop was a 13” iBook. Had it for years, and it was still working when I gave it to my oldest son to sell on eBay.

Apple has a wireless keyboard to use with the iPad. It sells for $69. Here's the link:

You realize that optical drives are slowly becoming outdated by thumb drives?
An external drive is fine, if it allows a person to DUMP Windows and viruses.

I've got that same keyboard with my iMac, and I bought a wired USB keyboard and a USB mouse because I got tired of buying batteries.
But I still have the wireless keyboard and a track-pad.
I like the track-pad, but I wish it was a USB connection.

Sure you don’t want to get a iPad tablet instead?
There are actually three choices. There is a more expensive pro with the faster solid state drivebin it.
My family has been opting for smaller lifhter packages lately.

But if you have the money, and you want one. go for a mac. But a macbook air is a lightweight (literally and operationally) machine. If all you need to do are lightweight tasks, you can get a google chromebook for $299. And it has usb ports.

Under Apple, you can delete google and choose another search engine.

I don't like Windows.
I had to tolerate it for 26 years in the military and 5 years in the FAA.
I'm sick of it.

A year ago when i got it, it was this tablet, or no tablet. Now i wouldn't want to do without it. Sure, if someone gave me a $329 ipad 9 " tab, i'm sure i would use it.

Why is it that those who know computing best do not use Microsoft products? It's been going on for a while now.
Oh! And here's an illustration stolen from a Bank of America private banking ad:
I can readily make out three computing devices in that photo, none of which are from Microsoft!

You realize that optical drives are slowly becoming outdated by thumb drives? On the other hand, an optical drive allows you to save 4.7gb on a 25¢ piece of plastic.
