The day after the election, I was led to the following scripture to explain why the election had turned out so badly (in my opinion). Here is the scripture I was led to:

II Thessalonians 2:10-12 - (10) And by unlimited seduction to evil and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing (going to perdition) because they did not welcome the Truth, but refused to love it that they might be saved. (11) Therefore God sends upon them a misleading influence, a working of error and a strong delusion to make them believe what is false. (12) In order that all may be judged and condemned who did not believe in [who refused to adhere to, trust in, and rely on] the Truth, but [instead] took pleasure in unrighteousness. (Amp)

Needless to say, I was a little stunned. I have believed for some time that we are in the last of the last days.

I recently started a Bible study by using a pattern I learned in Bible School. You start with a study of Jesus – so I took my book (from Bible School), “The Life of Jesus Christ” by James Stalker, and began reading it again. This book has been in constant publication since 1880. Mr. Stalker was the Pastor of the Free Church of Scotland. He lays out the life of Jesus by showing you what was going on in the world and how it affected the birth of Jesus, and he goes on to describe the people who were surrounding Jesus at his birth.

Then he wrote a section on The Nation and The Time. I came to a sub-section regarding the Pharisees (the representative religious men of the time), and as I was reading what the Pharisees were doing, I felt he was talking about our current world situation. The following statements stuck out to me: Every new invention of Pharisaic peculiarities was sanctioned …. These were multiplied until they regulated every detail of life – personal, domestic, social, and public. The conscience was burdened with innumerable details, …. It is a well-known principal in history, that, whenever the ceremonial is elevated to the same rank with the moral, the latter will soon be lost sight of. The Scribes and Pharisees had learned how by arbitrary exegesis (interpretation) and casuistical (rationalization) discussions to explain away the weightiest moral obligations, and make up for the neglect of them by multiplying ritual observances.

In case anybody is interested .. since this information clearly describes our country today .. Jesus may be closer to His return than we knew.

You have an interesting view. I hope others will be reminded. Each of these covenants are marked by men who knew the times (1 Chron. 12:32; Esther 1:13; Ezek. 12:27; Mt 16:3; Lk. 21:24; Ac. 3:19,21, 17:26-30; 1 Thess 4:13-5:8).

I think, CyberAnt, that to make your point, you might present a little more of the context of the verses you chose, so it can be seen that the exact times spoken of in those verses will be directly consequent to the snatching-away (αρπαζω) (1 Thess 4:17) of the saved ones yet living on the Earth--and that has not yet happened. But it seems to be so clearly close in time.

The other thing to note is that, yes, it does seem the time is near; but, no, the lawless one is not possibly yet revealed--though certainly his willing cohorts are certainly gaining control. But they cannot prevail over the living saints who are protected by the Holy Ghost, The Restrainiing One, until His saints are removed.
