I found the book - an old hardcover with yellowed pages - at my grandfather’s house. It had belonged to my grandmother, who died when my father was young. It was her favorite book, I was told. So, reading it was like experiencing a connection with my grandmother. One day I’ll have to get around to watching the movie.

Got to chime in...love this movie big time...not a big fan of Olivier but great in this one...have met Fontaine at a party...nice but nothing special.

The movie is terrific. Very “Atmospheric”.

Another classic. From Billy Wilder. I love his Cold War satire “One, Two, Three.”
