The sculpted nose of the lead car (I don’t think Maglev uses a separate locomotive) is a built-in moose deflector.
I don’t think there are moose on the loose in Japan. They DO have humongous brown bears, though, which are very similar to our Alaska Kodiak bears, but they are up on the northern island of Hokkaido.
