I don’t think there’s a good father in all the world who wouldn’t *try* to rescue his child under any such circumstances.
It’s part and parcel of doing everything in your power for your kid—leaping into danger, even if it means Junior survives and you don’t.
After following this all the way through the many emotional comments it comes down to two simple yet devastating truths. First, the father, for the rest of his life, is being forced to live with the FACT that he will NEVER know if he COULD have saved his son’s life. Secondly, the knuckle dragging badge monkey who tasered the father will live the rest of his miserable life knowing FOR A FACT that he ALONE sentenced an infant to death!!
