A NYT analysis on anything is intellectually equal to a quantum physics lecture by the Obamadork.

The film is full of anachronisms. For one thing, there was no disco and rap music in 1922, nor was there disco dancing. And the few songs from the 1920's that were used were from the latter part of the decade.

They should have used the tunes actually mentioned in the novel, such as Beale Street Blues, The Love Nest and Ain't We Got Fun?

If it wasn't explicitly stated it was strongly implied that Gatsby was a crook. Crooks don't create wealth, they steal it.

the small people, mere ants in black tie to be trampled by giants like Gatsby at their parties.

SPOILER ALERT!

Gatsby WASN'T one of the Giants the old money guys like Tom were the Giants. Gatsby played a role, largely a front fopr other businesses, and other than spending money on parties didn't do a lot of trampling. In the end, Gatsby himself was trampled because he annoyed the Toms of the world. Didn't the author understand the book at all?! Nick even spells it out for him. Sheesh!
