So lovely, Meg. Beautiful picture and very meaningful scripture.
In The Screwtape Letters written by C.S. Lewis, a senior devil urges his young protégé to divert a Christians thoughts away from God and focus instead on the faults of the people around him at church.
During a Sunday service, I found myself distracted and somewhat annoyed by a person near me who sang loudly off key and was out of sync during the unison readings. But when we bowed our heads for a time of silent prayer, it struck me that the Lord must surely be more pleased with that other persons heart than with the judgmental feelings He saw in mine.
A few days later I happened to read Proverbs 8 and was struck by verse 13: Pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate. Throughout this chapter, wisdom calls to us to gain an understanding heart (v.5) and to find life and obtain favor from the Lord (v.35). The alternative is to go through life with a superior attitude while dying inside in the process (v.36).
Pride is a sword that wounds the person who uses it along with those against whom it is used. Arrogance robs us of all God longs to give us, but by humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life (22:4).

So NICE to see Emily on the poetry Thread!
Hi Yorkie...happy Sunday!
((((HUGS))))
Where in the world did you get that picture of my dog Cagney? LOL!!
Very sweet, yorkie!
I hope it is ok if I post one more
I just couldn't resist this one:
Hi, JC! I wasn’t sure if it was Cagney or Dolly - but I knew you would love it! ((((HUGS))))
Lovely butterfly post, Yorkie!
We’ve been plagued by deer flies, horse flies and mosquitoes lately! As soon as you go outside, some ol’ deer fly starts buzzing about your head.
I saw a type of horse fly yesterday that I have not seen for several years. It is very large, bigger than a huge bumble bee and is pitch black with big wings. I looked it up back when I first saw one and IIRC, it is a buffalo fly or something like that. Frighteningly large, as one can imagine the painful bite of this winged beast! Ouch!
I want more butterflies!
: )
I love this, Jaidyn! How true those words are!!
The one you posted was like my first Sheltie and her name was Dolly. After Dolly died (and we cried a million tears) we got the black and white Sheltie and her name was Cagney. If someone wants the sweetest dog in the world, this is the breed to get. If I felt able to care for a pet now, I would get another Sheltie. And they are so SMART! But we all know pets take a lot of care and I don’t run at my fastest speed these days.
There is only one insect that belongs anywhere near your beautiful horse -
I know what you mean, JC! Animals take a lot of our time, attention and energy. It is a miracle that I survived the first year with Shanah - and even more, it is a miracle that SHE survived a year with ME! LOL!
Thank you, yorkie and thank you for the lovely scripture and weary eyed owl.
