In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
battology \buh-TOL-uh-jee\ , noun
wearisome repetition of words in speaking or writing.
Example sentences:
They weren't political or surrealist, they weren't witty or comic. They were only the monotonous evidence of a civic battology.
-- George Friel, Mr Alfred M.A., 1972
I kept volleying this along the walls of my skull, aspiring by battology to battle.
-- Tibor Fischer, The Thought Gang, 1994
Etymology:
Battology entered English in the late 1500s from the Greek word battologia meaning "speaking stammeringly" from battos meaning "stammerer" and -logia meaning "one who speaks (in a certain manner)."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Barack H. Obama’s battology
Won’t hide his corruption pathology
IRS and Benghazi
His answers are fuzzy
Excuses and phony apology
At first I thought that battology referred to a study of Hillary! and her history and candidacy.
But then I realized that battology is as close to military experience as anyone in this administration has gotten.
Battology, n.: the systematic study of Helen Thomas.
Today’s word, battology, is brought to you by Obama’s Department of Redundancy Department’s Redundancy division, which has brought you other such inspiring statements such as “Hope”, “Change”, “Hope and Change”, “Thrown under the bus”, and other such inspiring statements which were produced by Obamas Department of Redundancy Departments Redundancy division.
You're meaner than I am.
I like that!
Also, they seem to have new definitions of transparency and fair share. A for you.
But I’d really have to work at it to be meaner than that shrew.
Don't even try. It would be like mud-wrestling a pig.
Release date: January 22, 2013 The explosive new masterpiece of suspense from the #1 New York Timesbestselling author.
LAPD cop Scott James is not doing so well. Eight months ago, a shocking nighttime assault by unidentified men killed his partner Stephanie, nearly killed him, and left him enraged, ashamed, and ready to explode. He is unfit for dutyuntil he meets his new partner.
Maggie is not doing so well, either. A German shepherd who survived three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan sniffing explosives before losing her handler to an IED, her PTSD is as bad as Scotts.
They are each others last chance. Shunned and shunted to the side, they set out to investigate the one case that no one wants them to touch: the identity of the men who murdered Stephanie. What they begin to find is nothing like what Scott has been told, and the journey will take them both through the darkest moments of their own personal hells. Whether they will make it out again, no one can say.
I read all this author's books this spring. Just finished The Suspect and it was good. Loved the chapters from Maggie's POV.
Margaret Thatcher?
that sounds great! am going to read it.
I hear they’ve renamed the dem’s Daily Talking Points to Daily Battology, or Crazy Battology Sh*t.
My patience with the dem’s media and campaign battology has officially “maxed out”!
:^P
