Nova gets brood X, lower parts of VA get brood II. Different 17 year cycles. If you go south to Fredericksburg you will see them though.

I lived in DC VA ‘burbs as a kid and we got Brood X big time in 1970. I enjoyed launching them as a payload in Estes model rockets.

I drove from Fredrickburg yesterday and they were very loud. Nothing in Williamsburg or south Hampton Roads.

I heard that Ft. Belvoir has a bunch, and so do lots of other places around. I hope we get to see some; they’re pretty cool in my book. Stink bugs on the other hand I could do without.
