“We had just finished our prayers and were discussing how to thank our neighbours for the support they have shown us over the past few days when we heard a bang and saw fire coming under the door.

Translation: we were planning our next atrocity and gloating how OUR act was turning the British government against their own citizens..

The only time I have ever felt unwelcome at a house of worship was at a mosque a couple weeks after Sept. 11. I had to take photos to go with a story about inclusiveness. As I was waiting for the service, I went up to a group talking. They switched into arabic and turned away from me.

The imam “drew” a box for me to stand in as an unbeliever during the service.

Afterwards, a kid came up to me and asked about my new digital camera. His father yanked him away from me.

I compare that to synagogues and other Christian churches, along with Sikh temples where I have always been treated as a welcome guest.
