I just found an interesting Polish movie, “Katyn” in which the uploader wrote that it had English subtitles. Problem is when I started watching it...NO subtitles.
Many to watch with limited commercials at hulu.com. You have to register if you haven’t already. I think only with an email address and password, but not positive since I registered long ago.

Go search www.AllSubs.org, if your player can load external subtitles.
There usually are multiple versions that people have taken the time to edit and improve the timing.
I’ve found a couple for some French movies I’ve come across.
