I'm pretty sure Obama un-wisely went off script and told a whopper of a lie when he claimed he first heard of the IRS scandal on May 10. This must have driven the west Wing crazy, knowing that they would now have to protect that lie with a series of implausible defenses.

My personal favorite of all the new revelations from the Obama IRS scandal is that White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler told White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough about the impending IRS inspector general report, but of course the White House chief of staff did not tell the president.
I sat in a White House chief of staffs office every day for more than two years. The only reason the legal counsel would tell the chief of staff about an impending report or disclosure would be so the chief of staff could tell the president
What a big lair . all democrats are liars and evil incarnate

Dana Milbank: Obamas flagrant assault on civil liberties
Greg Sargent: The IRSs Lois Lerner has to go
Erik Wemple: Former New York Times lawyer: Obama will be worse than Nixon on press freedom

If all this is in WaPo then there must be scores of dead bodies in the White house closets, at least.
Assumes facts not in evidence. Drive them crazy? They craft despicable leftist lies every day of the week including Sunday. Why would just another outrageous lie or two (or ten) do anything more than encourage the staff to redouble their efforts at protecting the Liar-in-Chief?
What did the President know and when did he know it?

Let there be a special prosecutor. Let him take a year to complete his investigation.
And let it all come out just before the 2014 elections.
I believe Obama said it carelessly while trying to distance himself from the scandal, not realizing how much harder his underlings would have to work to cover for him. Sure, his underlings are paid to lie, but I’m sure they don’t like their boss making up an unneccessary lie on the fly like that.
Geez - even Bob Beckel is agreeable to the idea of a special prosecutor in the IRS affair - gettin’ serious for Obama.....
